Trump vs. Iran

Trump's inquiry about Iran is being answered based on a groundbreaking research:

Why does Iran not comply in the current negotiations?

Based on the research framework of Dr. Yehuda Cohen*

A Brief for the President

  1. Iran's Motivation Is Not What Western Negotiators Assume It to Be
According to Dr. Cohen's research, Iran's motivation "does not stem from what we call rational considerations."**
This is the most direct answer to Trump's question: the U.S. negotiating framework assumes a rational state actor responding to incentives and pressures. The research suggests this assumption is structurally flawed in Iran's case.

  2. Iran Is Bound by a "Murderous Ideology" That Overrides State Interests
The research identifies that Iran has adopted a murderous Shia ideology that serves to unify its deeply fractured - or rather absent - national identity. This ideology, once adopted, tends to overtake its own leaders — comparable, the research argues, to how Nazi racial theory "took over Hitler and his decisions and actions... it dictated his behavior in a way he could not act otherwise."***
In practical terms: Iran's leadership cannot easily comply even if it wanted to, because the ideology has acquired its own momentum and tenacial grip within Iranian nationality.

  3. Deep Nationality Frustration Drives the Regime's Rigidity
The research identifies deep nationality frustration within Iran, rooted in a fragmented national society — ethnically and linguistically divided, with approximately 25% Azeris and 10% Kurds among its ~90 million citizens — and lacking the unifying ancient myths needed to crystalize a stable national group.****
Shiite Islamic ideology was introduced in the 1979 revolution as an attempt to fill the nationality vacuum. This attempt demonstrated its success and impregnability during The Iran–Iraq War (1980-1988). Thus abandoning it — which compliance with Western demands might imply — would collapse the only unifying force holding Iranian nationality together nowadays. Non-compliance is therefore not a negotiating tactic: it is a nationality survival reflex.

  4. Iran Directs Its Resources Toward Ideology, Not National Development — Deliberately
The research notes that Iran has consistently preferred channeling its enormous resources toward the goal of eliminating Israel, rather than toward developing its infrastructure, water systems, or population welfare.^
This behavior, which appears irrational from a Western standpoint, is fully consistent with the logic of the "murderous Shia ideology" — and explains why economic pressure and sanctions have not produced the compliance Trump expected.

  5. The Risk of "Samson Option" Behavior Under Existential Pressure
The research explicitly warns that when the Ayatollah regime faces existential danger, elements within its power structure may act to destroy either Israel or a Western party (Europe or the US) even at the cost of their own destruction — driven not by strategic calculation but by ideological compulsion.^^
This means that intensifying pressure — Trump's preferred approach — may paradoxically reduce Iran's compliance further, as desperation amplifies ideological extremism rather than inducing pragmatic concession.

Summary answer to Trump's inquiry:

Iran does not comply because its leadership operates under the grip of a murderous Shiite Islamic ideology that has become the sole unifier of a deeply fractured - or rather absent - nationality. Compliance with U.S. demands would be experienced internally as ideological surrender and nationality collapse — not merely as a diplomatic concession; and then it might even switch on a "Samson Option" Behavior if such existential pressure will be felt. Therefore, the standard incentive-and-pressure model is insufficient to produce compliance.
